Drop-in RMP—Read, Music, Play (ages 0-5 with parent/caregiver)
Thursday, June 7, 14, 21, 28, July 5 and 12, 10:15am - 10:45am
Children attend this class with a parent/caregiver. This program is geared towards infants through young 3 year olds, although all ages are welcome and should enjoy the program. The format will be a mix of fingerplays, songs, and stories.  The program is followed by free play time.

Drop-in Little Explorers (0-5 yrs with parent/caregiver)
Tuesday, July 10, 5:00-7:00pm or Wednesday, July 11, 10:30-11:30am
Build early literacy skills while exploring with your senses. Interact with an array of sensory stations with your child. This may be a messy event so dress accordingly!  Weather permitting will take place indoors & outdoors.

Drop-in Toddler/Preschool Dance Party! (ages 2-5 with parent/caregiver)

Bring your dancing shoes and get ready to move!  Our Toddler/PreK Dance Party is 15-20 minutes of non-stop dancing, moving and grooving to both guided interactive and freestyle dance hits followed by a light snack.

Enjoy a play version of "Chicken Story Time" featuring an immersive experience and puppets. This production is courtesy of Eastern Michigan University's Theatre of the Young Tour.

The Summer Lunch Bunch is a collaborative community meals program that meets all over Livingston County during the summer recess.

  Show Me Nutrition (ages 3-5
This is a 4 week series: Wednesdays, July 25, & August 1, 8, 15,  10:30 - 11:15am
Preschoolers will have the opportunity to engage in age appropriate, interactive, hands-on activities that promote good eating habits, physical activity and food safety. Through each interesting and fun nutrition class, students will gain the skills necessary to make healthy lifestyle choices.  This is a four-week class presented by MSU-Extension.

  Zumbini® Demo Class (Infant - 3 yrs with parent/caregiver)

Enjoy a sample Zumbini class with certified instructor Miss Sara.  Zumbini® = Moving, grooving, and growing for mom or dad (or caregiver) and me!  Created by Zumba® and BabyFirst for kids ages 0-4, the Zumbini® program combines music, dance and educational tools for 45 minutes of can’t-stop, won’t-stop bonding, learning, and fun!  Limited space

 Book Buddies (Grades 1 - 3)
This is a 4-week series: Tuesdays, June 18  & 25, July 2 & 9, 6:30-7:00 pm

An opportunity for your child to practice their reading over the summer.  Each child will be paired with a teen volunteer to read to and do simple activities together.  Knowing your child’s reading level at the end of the school year will be beneficial.

 Beginner Coding with LEGO Robotics (Grades 1 - 4)
Tuesday, June 19, 4:00 - 5:00pm or 5:00 - 6:00 pm

Learn basic coding skills while building & programming a LEGO robot.

 Creative Kids (Grades 1 - 5)

Enjoy a few different creative challenges ranging from art/craft projects to science/engineering. All you need to bring is your creative self!

 4-hour Stop-Motion Animation Workshop (Grades 5 - 8)
Tuesday, June 26th, 10:30am - 2:30pm
Join us for an exciting STEAM program led by Alex Thomas, stop-motion animator who worked on Cartoon Network Shows. Participants will learn different animation styles experimenting with claymation, pixilation, paper cut-out, rotoscoping, and more. We will explore techniques such as onion skinning, rotoscoping, looping, weight, speed, timing, intervals, and more. Pepperoni pizza and pop will be provided. At the conclusion of the program, every student will receive a DVD of all of the animation produced during the program. This program is open to 5th-8th graders. 
Attention Parents -  a photo waiver will need to be signed by a parent/guardian of each participant; please plan on entering the building and signing the waiver when you bring your child to the class.

 LOC & Mrs. Quacker's Fun with Money (Grades K - 1)
Monday, July 9, 10:30 - 12:00pm
Come along and have fun with Mrs. Quacker and the LOC Federal Credit Union gang while learning about money! Sign up for this one day, hour long program that includes story time, games, prizes, and a piggy bank craft!  Presented by LOC Federal Credit Union.

 LOC's Money Museum Mystery (Grades 2 - 5)
This is a 3-day class: Tuesday, July 10, & Wednesday, July 11 & Thursday July 12, 1:00 - 2:30pm

Join our three-day program to have fun learning about money while solving a museum heist mystery. Participants have to unravel the mystery of the missing museum exhibits while using fun facts about money and math they have learned during the program.  Don’t miss out on solving the case! Presented by LOC Federal Credit Union.

Join the Michigan Science Center as we learn about one of the coldest substances on Earth. We’ll see what cool things it can do and learn how it can be used to make a sweet treat.  After the presentation, learn how to make your own “shake up ice cream” in a bag and take it home with you.  Limited space; pre-registration is required.

Come ready to get wet as we play with water on the library lawn.  Activities are geared for elementary students.   Middle School Madness: Marvel Mania (Grades 6 - 9)

Calling all middle school age Marvel fans!  Make your own gauntlet, and enjoy some Marvel trivia, and talk about the recent Avengers movie.

Start with a simple spiral notebook and create a basic journal for artistic inspiration. Learn how to utilize scissors, glue, paper clips, stickers, tape and more to begin a special and unique journal. We will have a Fire Truck, EMS Vehicle, Tow Truck, Police Car and more special vehicles for you to see and investigate. Event will take place outside on the library lot at the north east corner of Clinton and Center Street.

Bring a white shirt and we’ll provide the red & blue paint and space to create a masterpiece (or to make a mess)!  Please wear old clothing in case fabric paint gets on them.  This event takes place outside on the library lawn and is a weather-dependent event.

For all ages and abilities from 3-103! Calling all game lovers!  Drop-in to play classic board games, card games, and discover new favorites from Dire Comics and Toyology staff.  Bring your friends and meet some new ones. If you like to play games, you’re in for a great time!

 Family Breakout Event

Your family will work together as a team to solve puzzles and follow clues in order to breakout (similar to an escape room)!    This game is geared for mid-upper elementary students. Middle school students will also find it enjoyable.  Lower elementary & PreK family members are also invited to participate with parent help.  The key will be working together as a family

Monday, July 23, 10:30 - 11:30 am

Connect with others with an exuberant rhythm experience.  No musical experience is necessary to enjoy this hour long drum circle using hand drums and percussion instruments. For all ages though elementary and middle school ages and adults will find it most enjoyable.

Dan the Creature Man is visiting the library with real live animals including snakes, a tarantula, tortoise, alligator, chinchilla and parrot!  Drop in, no registration required. Weather permitting, this event will be outdoors.
