HCDL Teen Photography Contest Rules

Term: 

The HCDL Teen Photography Contest begins December 1, 2016 and ends January 13, 2017 at 5:00 PM Eastern Standard Time (EST). By submitting an entry, each contestant agrees to the rules of the contest.

Who may enter:
Anyone in grades 6-12 (except for immediate family members of Howell Carnegie District Library staff and board members).

What to enter:
Photographs can be entered for the following five contest categories (there are two age groups for the contest: grades 6-8 and grades 9-12):
People, Funny, Animal, Nature, Holiday.  Maximum of one entry per category per entrant.

Photographs must have been shot by the entrant during the contest time (Dec.1, 2016 - Jan. 13, 2017).  Entries must be clearly marked which category they are for and the date they were taken.  If a person or people are in your photograph(s), you must get their permission to enter it in this contest.

How to enter:
All entries should be submitted online here.
Each photo entry must include the date taken & category it is being entered for (one entry per category); as well as your name, phone number, e-mail and grade.

If you need to scan your photos, the library has a document scanning machine that you can use to scan and save your photos.

By entering the contest, entrants grant the Howell Carnegie District Library (and the library's partners) permission to use the photographs.  Any photograph reproduced will include a photographer credit as feasible.

Entry deadline:
All entries must be received by 5pm on January 13, 2017.

Judging:
Judging of the contest will be conducted by a panel of 3-4 judges.  Judges will be teen and adult community members.  Decisions of the judges will be final.

Up to eleven winners will be selected, one for each category within each age group, as well as one "Best in Show".  

Prizes:
One winner for each of the five categories (for each age group, 6-8 grade & 9-12 grade) as well as one "Best in Show" will be selected to receive a $10. gift card.

All entered photographs will be displayed at a public reception on Wednesday, February 15 at 7:00pm at the Howell Carnegie Library, where the winners will be announced and can receive their prizes.

Prizes must be picked up at the library; prizes will not be mailed.
