Teen Photography Contest (for 6th-12th graders), Summer 2017

HCDL Teen Photography Contest Rules



The HCDL Teen Photography Contest begins at 10:00am on Wednesday, June 14 and ends Friday, July 21 at 5:00 PM Eastern Standard Time (EST). By submitting an entry, each contestant agrees to the rules of the contest.

Who may enter:

Anyone entering grades 6-12 in fall 2017 (except for immediate family members of Howell Carnegie District Library staff and board members).

What to enter:

Submit a photo that best represents "Build A Better World".  Maximum of one entry per entrant.

Photographs must have been shot by the entrant during the contest time (June 14 - July 21, ends at 5:00 PM).  If a person or people are in your photograph(s), you must get their permission to enter it in this contest.

How to enter:

All entries should be submitted online here.

Each photo entry must include the date taken; as well as your name, phone number, e-mail and grade in fall.

If you need to scan your photos, the library has a document scanning machine that you can use to scan and save your photos.

By entering the contest, entrants grant the Howell Carnegie District Library (and the library's partners) permission to use the photographs.  Any photograph reproduced will include a photographer credit as feasible.

Entry deadline: 

All entries must be received by 5pm on July 21, 2017.


Judging of the contest will be conducted by a panel of 3-4 judges.  Judges will be teen and adult community members.  Decisions of the judges will be final.

One winner for each each age group will be selected.  


Each winner will receive a $15. gift card.

All entered photographs will be displayed at a public reception on Monday, August 14 at 7:00pm at the Howell Carnegie Library, where the winners will be announced and can receive their prizes.

Prizes must be picked up at the library; prizes will not be mailed.
