Early Literacy Classes Descriptions

During the schoolyear, Early Literacy Classes require Pre-Registration & run in either 5 or 6 week sessions.   Click here for information.

Due to demand - registration is limited to one Early Literacy Class per week per child. 
You may register for both Parent Child Workshop & an Early Literacy Class if you would like.

LIBRARY LITTLES (Early Literacy Class)
... is for little ones 6 to 24 months and a parent/caregiver. Bring your little one and enjoy songs, fingerplays, movement and stories. This program is just for you and your little one. Thursday at 10:15 a.m. (15 minute program followed by book sharing and social time).

... is for babies 6 months to 3 years and a parent/caregiver (Siblings 5 years and younger are welcome). Spend time together, play, experience art activities and meet new friends. Community Resource Specialists discuss child development, speech and hearing, nutrition and play and movement. Parent Child Workshop runs the first 5 weeks during the Early Literacy Class session.  Monday at 10:30 a.m. (1 hr. - 1 hr. 15 min.) The Parent Child Workshop is not offered during the Spring Session (Fall, Late Fall & Winter Only).

Parent Child Workshop Registration Policy:
The workshop is designed/intended to be a one-time class. Therefore, first priority is given to those who haven’t previously participated. For those who have participated, we will gladly add you to the waitlist and monitor enrollment.

TOTS & TYKES (Early Literacy Class)
... is for 2-3 years old and a parent/caregiver. The children listen and interact through stories, flannel board games, songs and fingerplays. Wednesday at 10:15 a.m. (20 minutes).

RMP - READ, MUSIC, PLAY (Early Literacy Class)
... is for families. Children attend this class with a parent/caregiver. This program is geared towards infants through young 3 year olds, although all ages are welcome and should enjoy the program. The format will be a mix of fingerplays, songs, stories and time to socialize with the others in the group. Tuesday at 10:15 a.m. or Wednesday at 10:45 a.m. (20 minute program followed by play).

PRESCHOOL (Early Literacy Class)
... is for children 3 to 5 years old (not in kindergarten yet) who enter the story room without their parent and participate in stories, games, songs and fingerplays. Monday or Wednesday at 10:45 a.m. Tuesday at 10:15 a.m. or 1:30 p.m. and Thursday at 10:15 a.m. (30 minutes).
