Twelve Angry Men (DVD)
Set in the mid-1950s, the defendant is accused of murdering his father. All twelve must agree on his innocence or guilt. If he is found guilty the death sentence is mandatory. The story revolves around what happens in that jury room after hearing the 'facts' in a seemingly open-and-shut murder trial case. The twelve men retire to a jury room to do their civic duty and serve up a just verdict for the indigent minority defendant (with a criminal record) whose life is in the balance. What seemed like a quickly resolved case turns out to be anything but that. This is especially timely since the play is at the Fisher Theatre right now. Anyone who has ever served or will serve on a jury will find things to ponder in this video.
