June 23, 2011

Rude comic darling Zach Galifianakis is on the cover of the June 23, 2011 issue of Rolling Stone, but I think the magazine’s cover story should have been the feature on Justin Vernon, the mastermind behind indie band Bon Iver. I first heard of Vernon’s band Bon Iver a few years ago on National Public Radio’s All Songs Considered. I’ve been waiting for his next record ever since. Vernon sings with a falsetto that he claims he discovered as a fluke. His music is haunting, soothing and unforgettable. Writer Josh Eells spent time this spring with Vernon at his Wisconsin home in the small town of Fall Creek. Eells packs lots of interesting details about Vernon and his life in the two-page article.
