David Baldacci

David Baldacci is one of my favorite thriller authors but this is a very different sort of book. Jack is terminally ill but it is his wife who dies in a car accident. I don't want to tell too much so as not to spoil the story but Jack and his three children are on a roller coaster ride as a family. A very emotional book but a real winner and a hard to put down book.

One Summer is a departure from the typical Baldacci book. It will make you cry. The father is terminally ill, but miraculously recovers and regains his children who were sent to live with various relatives. He was never close to his children as he let his work keep him detached. Now, with his wife dead he needs to become a father to his children. The plot is predictable, but the characters will move the reader. A good summer read that help one rethink and reevaluate our work/family priorities.
