The Lines We Cross
The Lines We Cross

This is a young adult story about a girl who is an Afghan refugee in Australia and a boy, Michael, whose parents are very involved in an Aussie Values group that stands against accepting refugees.  Their paths cross at a protest and then again at school and they begin to get to know each other.  As they do, Michael begins to get a better understanding of what it means to be a refugee and who they are.  It is a timely novel, given the situation in today's world.  The Australian setting was also interesting to me because it is so similar to things we hear in the United States.  It was a quick and thought provoking read.
