Glow by Amy Ryan

“Part of the first generation to be conceived in deep space, fifteen-year-old Waverly is expected to marry young and have children to populate a new planet, but a violent betrayal by the dogmatic leader of their sister ship could have devastating consequences.”

I found myself thinking a lot about this book after I had read it – which to me is a sign of a great book.  For me this book explored the “doing the ‘right’ thing” theme in-depth… which characters really did the right thing and what would I have done?  What sacrifices were necessary for the greater good?  Where are these lines drawn?

Older teens and adults would enjoy as well as fans of science fiction, survival, dystopia, and action adventure.  While not overly similar to the Hunger Games, I think fans would enjoy this book as well due to similar themes and struggles.
(This is the first book in the "Sky Chasers" series, second book "Spark" scheduled to be published July 17, 2012.)
