A Donkey Reads

My family loves reading stories from other cultures and folktales make us laugh.  This one is delightful and was an added bonus as we are in the throes of reading month and the boys learning about market economics at school.  Poor Mustafo has to pay tribute to the conquering Mongol tyrant.  He is so poor he only has a donkey that does not even earn his keep, but he fearfully submits it.  Luckily, he is spared a beating as the village wise man steps in to say he can teach the donkey to read.  You'll have to read the book to see if he is successful.  The art work by Andre Letria is wonderful and accents the story beautifully.  This is a Junior Library Guild Selection winner.  Check our catalog
