The Colored Car

This 2014 Michigan Notable Book takes place in 1937.  Twelve year old Patsy and her three younger sisters enjoy daily life in Detroit.  When the family visits her grandmother in Tennessee, she experiences segregation on the train and other things that go against what she has been experiences at home up north.   Her grandmother teaches her quilting as a way to let go of her anger in those days.   Fascinating since I grew up in those years.
