Ashley Judd
Ashley Judd's memoir is a slow painful read. Do not pick it up thinking oh-I love her movies, let me get the inside scoop on her wonderful childhood and breaking into the business. It is heart wrenching. She shares the pain of being neglected and unloved as a child and how this has shaped her adult life. She intertwines this very personal experience with the lives she encounters in her work abroad with Population Services International. She is an advocate for women and children all over the world suffering in poverty. She tells their stories, particularly the stories of prostitutes. She was an empathetic listener and she shares their stories with grace.
